The French population widely supports the law which penalizes sexual acts and reinforces assistance for prostituted persons

2/3 French people are opposed to repealing this law: this is a strong message to send the day before the assessment of the law by the Constitutional Council.

According to a survey carried out by IPSOS and CAP International, the French population believes that the 2016 law against the system of prostitution is a good thing. The law, on the one hand, allows prostitution persons to leave the industry, and, on the other, fights against the criminal networks that exploit these persons. In addition, the population believes that we must do more to further combat these criminal networks. Overall, the people surveyed were sufficiently conscious of the violence that accompanies prostitution, and the health consequences for prostituted persons. They agree with the fact that it “should not be possible to purchase access to another’s body, nor the sexuality of another.”
